Potential Ruminations

After watching an interesting episode of Q & A (http://www.abc.net.au/tv/qanda/txt/s3473507.htm) I thought I'd jot down some ideas for future post topics below:

1. There is a common perception in society that banning smoking is society is oppressive and even Orwellian. I would like to argue just the opposite; that on one hand, spending millions on revolting advertising campaigns to coerce people while encouraging them in a hedonist consumer society is the definition of Orwellian oppression.

2. I'd like to make an argument against applying the same principles of privacy against individuals and small organisations like wikileaks to large governments and corporations.

3. I'd like to analyse the international threat of Iran (both in terms of its nuclear capacity and its ruling elite) in relation to Israel (which possesses approximately 200 nuclear weapons).

There is also an excellent article Zizek has written about the infamous 'God is Dead.' statement by Nietzsche. He has given me a perspective I would have never imagined and would like to explore in more depth.

May the content come forth!
