Having briefly touched on the Mandelbrot set in my last post - I wanted to do this majestic mathematical expression some more justice.
The below video magnifies the Mandelbrot Fractal to 6.066e+228 (2^760)
To give a sense of this scale:
1E9 The distance of Jupiter's radius
1E12 The distance of Earth's orbit around the Sun
1E18 The distance from the Earth to Alpha Centauri
1E21 The length of the Milky Way galaxy
1E42 The distance it would take to zoom in from the entire universe (93 billion light year diameter) to a single Proton (1 femtometer diameter)
If you were to measure the distance of the 10 minute zoom you will see below, it would be a mind boggling 1E228
However the scale of the Mandelbrot set isn't its most amazing feature. What is truly insane about this incredibly detailed, complex and unimaginably enormous mathematical expression is its utter simplicity:
zn+1 = zn2 + c
